The illustration explains that humans are uniquely wired to learn through multiple channels, not a uni-sensory channel.  It is not one pipe connecting the outside world to the brain.  Instead, human learning consists of several pipes, or senses, simultaneously running at lower volumes to relay the necessary information that creates a more complete learning experience.  This is multi-sensory learning at its best.
